Takeo

Takeo is the capital of Takeo Province, Cambodia. It is often referred to as “the cradle of Cambodian civilization”, Takeo Province includes several important pre-Angkorian sites built between 5th and 8th centuries. And nowadays, Takeo is a poor, rural province whose economy is based on farming and fishing. Very few Cambodia tourists spend much time in the provincial capital, Takeo, gateway to Angkor Borei, where it’s easy to score a slice of real Cambodian life. As a quiet, lakeside provincial capital, Takeo is an excellent base from which to take a zippy motorboat ride to the pre-Angkorian temples in the Angkor Borei area, and is an easy stop if you like traveling between Phnom Penh and Kampot. There are few things to see in this quiet provincial capital, however, you could visit Phnom Bayong, Phnom Chisor, Tonle Bati, Angkor Borei and Phnom Da around Takeo in the Province to enjoy the pre-Angkorian culture.
