From Son La, depart for Dien Bien Phu through the hills and valleys, enjoy the beautiful landscapes en route. Arrive in Dien bien. Visit Bon village (at the foot of Chieng Pac pass) and Thuan Chau market. Overnight in Dien Bien Phu.

After breakfast, visit Dien Bien Phu museum and cemetery, the famous A1 Hill, old French battlefield, De Catrie's trench. Transfer to Lai Chau. Visit Lai Chau town with local market and villages. Check in hotel. Overnight in Lai Chau.

Full day trekking (15km) to Ta Van via Y Ninh Ho valley and Lao Chai village. Exploring the mysterious life of local ethnic minority people. Lunch in the local ethnic village. Back to hotel in the afternoon. Overnight in Sapa .

Depart for Tuyen Quang, the old headquarters of Vietnam revolution. Enjoy the beautiful scenery en route. Overnight in Tuyen Quang.

Transfer to Ba Be lake in Bac Can province. Lunch en route. Arrive at Ba Be lake. Check in hotel. Overnight in Ba Be.

Take a private boat for a cruise to Dau Dang waterfalls, a series of spectacular cascading falls between sheer walls of rock. Journey further north and the lake passes through Puong cave, at the height of around 30 meters, the cave is big enough to host a small floating market each Saturday. Then go trekking to visit Pac Ngoi village of the Tay ethnic group. Spending time with ethnic people. Enjoy picnic lunch. Back to hotel. Overnight in Ba Be lake.

Transfer to Cao Bang from Ba Be lake. The road built in colonial times weaves and twists through mountains, fertile valleys, lush forests and traditional villages. There is much of interest en route including giant water wheels along the rivers, spectacular mountain scenery and perhaps with luck of local market. Arrive in Cao Bang. After lunch, depart for visit the vestiges of Vietnam's resistance war against the French such as: Pac Po cave, the former hideout of the late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh, see how he lived and worked for four years while masterminding the downfall of the French colonial rule, Tan Trao ancient tree. Overnight in Cao Bang.

Transfer to visit Ban Gioc - one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Vietnam near the Chinese border. It is possible to swim in the cool water below the falls or simply enjoy the pleasant surrounding and views of China on the other side of the riverbank. Transfer back to Cao Bang town in the afternoon. Overnight in Cao Bang.

Depart for Lang Son, the bustling border town. Visit Lang Son town with local ethnic minority villages, Ky Lua market, To Thi stone statue. Overnight in Lang Son.

Transfer to visit the Vietnam - China border after breakfast. Transfer back to Hanoi in the afternoon. Overnight in Hanoi.
