Itinerary Details:
Highlights: Visit the mighty TerraIOTta Warriors in Xi'an, cruise along the Yangtze River cruise and experience Mekong Delta Region
Day 1: Beijing arrival
Upon your arrival at the Beijing airport, your local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax and recover from jetlag.
Day 2: Beijing (B, L)
Today you will first visit the historic Tiananmen Square, and then the magnificent Forbidden City. In the afternoon, you will marvel at the exquisite Summer Palace.
Day 3: Beijing-Xian by overnight train (B, L)
In the morning, we will bring you to visit the magnificent Great Wall (Juyongguan section), and along the way back to the city, we will bring you to the National Stadium and the National Aquatics Center of the Olympic Green for you to take pictures from outside. (If you want to visit the interior of them, tickets will be on your own expense. RMB50 for the National Stadium, and RMB30 for the National Aquatics Center) Later, you will visit Beijing Folklore Museum.
- Beijing Folklore Museum: located in the original Dongyue Taoist Temple which was built in 1319 and famed with its various josses, couplets and inscriptions, this museum is the only folklore museum in Beijing. The museum holds abundant folklore activities during the traditional holidays besides exhibiting folklore things all the year around.
Day 4: Xian Arrival (B, L)
Upon your arrival at Xian, your guide will meet you at the exit of the train station and escort your hotel for breakfast. Today you will visit the Ancient City Walls. After lunch, you will visit the incredible life-size TerraIOTta Warriors in the morning. On the way back to hotel, you will have a chance to visit cave-home, a local dwelling.
Day 5: Xian (B, L)
Today, you will experience the local life at Hu County where nearly everyone in this small county likes drawing, and most of them are local peasants. With the unique styles, Hu Xian peasant paintings now have been well-established for a certain scale. The glamorous folk paintings arts have lent new vitality to Xian. After breakfast, you will travel to Hu County to see the farmers painting. You can learn Chinese painting and calligraphy in the local house. You will have lunch at a local family.
Day 6: Xian-Chongqing-embark the cruise (B)
After breakfast, you will tour The Great Mosque and Muslim community before your guide escorts you to the airport your flight to Chongqing. Your local guide will meet you and escort you to pier to pre-boarding Regal China Cruises.
Day 7: Yangtze Cruise (B, L, D)
Your cruise along the picturesque Yangtze River departs Chongqing at 08:00AM. On this day there will be a shore excursion at the famous Fengdu Ghost city from 2:00-5:00.
-Fengdu Ghost City: constructed on Mingshan Hill along the river bank. Legends state that state that approximately 1,700 years ago during the Western Jin Dynasty, two officials, Yin and Wang (the combination of their surnames means "Ghost King ") became Taoists here and eventually Immortals. Now the Ghost City with its fantastic temples and carvings of the underworld's demons and gods, demonstrate the Chinese ghost culture and is a place for punishing the evil and awarding the good.
Day 8: Yangtze Cruise (B, L, D)
Traveling down the Yangtze River you will witness the amazing three gorges. It is something that no visitor to China will want to miss. You will pass though the first gorge named, Qutang Gorge followed by the Wu Gorge. You will have an unforgettable side excursion on the Shennong Stream from 11:30 to 3:00. You will have to transfer to smaller vessels. The boat captain will guide the boat upstream so you can experience this tributary's amazing topography. Back on board your cruise ship you will pass through the third gorge known as Xiling Gorge and then pass through the amazing Three Gorges Dam Ship Lock. After which, your ship will anchor for the night.
Day 9: Yangtze Cruise (B, L, D)
Today's Highlight is Shore excursion to the world famous Three Gorges Dam from 8:00 to 10:30. You will then be taken to Shashi (Jingzhou).
-The Three Gorges Dam: spanning the Yangtze at Sandouping, Yichang, Hubei Province. Construction began in 1994, and it is now the largest hydroelectric dam in the world. The Dam will be 2,335 meters long, 18 meters wide, and its bottom will be 130 meters wide after completion in 2009. At that time the water level in the reservoir behind it will have risen to 135 meters above sea level. The reservoir began filling on June 1, 2003, and will occupy the present position of the scenic Three Gorges area, between the cities of Yichang, Hubei; and Fuling, Chongqing Municipality.
Day 10: Jingzhou Port-Wuhan-Saigon (Hochiminh) (B,L)
After breakfast you will disembark the ship. Your guide will escort you to Wuhan. After lunch, visit the Hubei Provincial Museum. Take a flight to Saigon. Your flight will depart Wuhan at 18:05.
Day 11: Saigon City tour (B, L)
The tour begins with Reunification Palace, War Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral. After lunch, continue to visit Binh Tay Market, Thien Hau Pagoda, bustling Chinatown which should not be missed.
Day 12: Mekong Delta (B, L)
Leave the busy city for Mekong delta region. Upon arrival at Cai Be, enjoy the local lifestyle with a boat navigating around the small canals in the delta region. Observe the floating market where sellers and buyers bargaining and exchanging their goods from their boats. Roam around and observe how the people make the living from fruit trees such as coconut, corn and other local product. On the way back to Ho Chi Minh City, stop along the way to see Cho Lon, Saigon's China town.
Day 13: Saigon free day (B)
Today is left free for you to explore the city named "Eastern Paris".
Day 14: Saigon-departure (B)
You can do some shopping before you are transferred to Tan Son Nhat airport for departure.
