Haiphong Museum & Navy Museum
The big, red, not-so-pretty building is an essential stop for those history buffs to make the Vietnam tours complete. Here, the whole version of Haiphong history is presented. After a smiling Uncle Ho greets, you are going to explore Haiphong's origins and its role in the War of Independence and the American War. In the garden, it serves as the local brew bia hoi (draft beer), which seems to be more attractive than the museum itself. The museum is not far away from Haiphong Museum, and the big bray modernist building houses some poignant remnants of the city's battles with foreigners. This politicized display caters especially those interested in the American War, and most of the time you would run into visiting sailors and veterans.
