Being one of the largest fish sauce production center, Phan Thiet is yet to make the most attractive destination in any Vietnam tours. Despite the weirdly strange fishy smell, the city, however, is a relaxing one-day stop for your ideal Vietnam holiday.

During the Vietnam War, Phan Thiet was the site of the U.S. military base known as Landing Zone Betty, which was located at the now closed airfield southwest of the city. In recent years, Phan Thiet (specifically Mui Ne Beach district) has been transformed into a resort destination.

The biggest and free attraction over town must be the scenic Ca Ty River. Fishermen sail out everyday for some lively fresh catches and the dock is always chock-a-block, making some colorfully excellent photo shots. The town struggles to keep the flowing tourists while it does offer some quality leisure time with its high-notch beach resorts and plentiful seafood feast.
