Day 1: International Arrival, Ho Chi Minh City at Leisure

Upon your arrival in Ho Chi Minh City our guide will hold your name sign and wait for you at the airport, and then you will be escorted to check in your hotel. The rest of the day is for your leisure.

Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City Sightseeing

This morning set out for the incredible underground Cu Chi Tunnel constructed by Vietnamese fighters during the Vietnam War. Then it’s a city tour of Ho Chi Minh City including the War Remnants Museum and Reunification Palace (the former Presidential Palace). There, Ben Thanh Market, Old Saigon Post Office, Dong Khoi Street (formerly Rue Catinat), Continental Hotel, Opera House and City Hall are all within walking distance and absolutely nice choices for a free stroll.

Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City - My Tho - Can Tho

Today we head for My Tho in Mekong Delta to take a boat trip on Tien River and visit My Tho Fish Market and four islands. Later, ride a cart through a beautiful village to the Mr. Muoi Hai’s House to enjoy honey tea.
After a sampan cruise along the canals of Mekong River return to My Tho pier and drive to Can Tho. Check in and enjoy some leisure time on your own.

Day 4: Can Tho - Ho Chi Minh City - Hue

Today starts with a boat trip along the endless waterways of mighty Mekong River to Cai Rang Floating Market where hundreds of boats are loaded with fruits, vegetables and fish jostling for trade, and a visit to the Bun Tau Noodle Factory. After a delicious lunch, we drive back to Ho Chi Minh City for your flight to Hue. Upon arrival, check in to hotel and enjoy some leisure time.

Day 5: Hue City Tour

After breakfast, you will first visit the majestic Minh Mang Tomb erected in 1840s. Then sail the Perfume River by Royal Dragon Boat to the seven-storey Thien Mu Pagoda, the tallest one in Vietnam. Transfer to visit Imperial Citadel with cobbled paths and tour the Forbidden Purple City, a walled fortress and palace in the former capital. Later on, absorb the energy, sounds and odors of the bustling Dong Ba Market

Day 6: Hue - Da Nang - Hoi An

After a relaxing breakfast we head for Hoi An while enjoying the view of the coast and Da Nang from the top of Hai Van Pass on the way. On arrival in Da Nang, visit Non Nuoc Beach, Cham Museum which has a fascinating collection of rare works of art, and last, the famous Marble Mountain. Arrive in Hoi An in the afternoon, check in to hotel and have some free time on your own.

Day 7: Hoi An Sightseeing
After breakfast, we go around the tiny town of Hoi An to visit the Japanese Bridge, the famous Chinese Temple, and Vietnamese former merchants house. And then you will visit the home of a craftsman in the old street in Hoi An Town where you will discover the daily life of Hoi An people and see how they make a lantern. You will have a chance to enjoy Paper Lantern Making and keep it as a souvenir.

Day 8: Hoi An - Da Nang - Hanoi

This morning, we will have a half-day tour to My Son-Holy Land -My Son Sanctuary of the former Cham Kingdom. After lunch, you will be escorted back to Da Nang airport for your flight to Hanoi.

Upon your arrival in Hanoi, our guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel.

Day 9: Hanoi City Tour

In the morning, explore Hanoi by touring some major historic sites, including Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh House on Stilt, One Pillar Pagoda, Tran Quoc Pagoda and Quan Thanh Temple. In the afternoon, we visit Museum of Ethnology and cycle through the Old Quarter of Hanoi (by Rickshaw) (about 1hr), last stop is Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple and enjoy a Water Puppet Show to learn more about Vietnamese traditional culture.
Note: Please note that the HCM Mausoleum is closed on Fridays and Mondays and most museums are closed on Mondays.

Day 10: Hanoi-Sapa

After breakfast, you will drive to Sapa from Hanoi with a 5 hours drive, stop for a break or take photos en route. After checking in hotel and taking a rest at Sapa, we will visit the Silver Waterfall - the most beautiful waterfall in Sapa then enjoy the great view and feeling at the "Heaven Gate" of Sapa - the highest point of Hoang Lien Son mountain range where you can see majestic Lai Chau Valley and imposing Fanxipan mount.

Day 11: Sapa Trekking Tour

Today you will take a morning walking tour to a busy market where Red Dao, Black & Flower H'Mong, Tay and other ethnic minority people converge from the surrounding countryside to sell their silverware and handicrafts, and to buy provisions. Afterwards, you will do a trekking tour (about 3 hours hike) to Lao Chai and Ta Van Village of the Black H'mong and the Day people, you will enjoy the fresh air, amazing scenery of the imposing mountain range, trek down world's most beautiful terraced rice fields, visit some local family on the way and learn unique culture and life of these ethnic groups. Drive back to Sapa for overnight.

Day 12: Sapa - Hanoi

This morning, you will visit Ma Tra Village first and then trek through the rice terraces to Ta Phin Village of the Red Dao minority (about 3 hours trekking). After lunch in the village, drive back to Hanoi.

Day 13: Hanoi - Halong Bay

Upon arrival in Hanoi, take a short rest in hotel and set out for a rich Halong Bay cruise. After a 3-hr scenic drive to the pier, check into your private cabin and start cruising towards Bai Tu Long Bay. Besides admiring the stunning scenery and visiting Vong Vieng Fishing Village to discover the life of local people, you will also enjoy optional activities such as kayaking, kite flying, cave adventure, etc. Spend a romantic night on board at Halong Bay.

Day 14: Halone Bay - Hanoi

Today continue your unforgettable Halong Bay cruise until a big brunch is finished and then disembark. Drive back to Hanoi and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will have some free time on your own beforegoing to the airport for your international flight home.

Day 1: Arrival, Luang Prabang

Free at leisure then fly to Luang Prabang. After a short rest, we’ll climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred gilded stupa and then explore the night market.

Day 2: Luang Prabang Sightseeing

After breakfast, enjoy a cultural excursion of the city’s oldest temple, Wat Sene, and the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong. Then board a cruiser upstream in the Mekong River, explore the mysterious Pak Ou Caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues. Later, take a stopover at Ban Xang Hai and Ban Phanom, villages well known for local rice wine-making or hand weaving. Follow on with an easy city tour to the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham and Wat Mai. Last, tour the Royal Palace Museum (which will be rescheduled if it happens to be Tuesday, the close day).

Day 3: Luang Prabang Sightseeing

If you like, observe the alms-giving procession in the early morning at 5:40am. Today you start from a visit to the morning Phousi Market to see where Laos’ locals shop. Go back to hotel for breakfast and the rest of the morning is yours to spare.In the afternoon, explore some local villages of Lao minority groups at Ban Ouay. Then transfer to Kuang Si Falls where you can find the best natural play ground. Continue to Ban Xang Khong, a village well known for traditional Saa paper-making. Catch the sunset at Wat Siphouthabath.

Day 4: Luang Prabang, Departure

Enjoy your leisure time before to be escorted to the airport for your departure flight.

Normally Indochina Odyssey Tours includes two meals each day during tour: Breakfast and Lunch. You will have the freedom to make your own dinner choice.

Breakfast

It is normally served at the hotel where you stay. Depending on the hotel, the breakfast would be in western style, local style, or a combination.

Lunch

Lunches are usually set menu at handpicked local restaurant with comfortable dining environment where you can rest assure to taste the local flavor. All restaurants arranged by Indochina Odyssey Tours selected carefully and evaluated constantly based on customer feedback and our on-site inspection.

Dinner

Dinners will not be included in your meal plan unless you have that requirement. Enjoying the local food could be one of your best experiences in “tasty” Indochina area. Four of us recently returned from a wonderful 14 day private Odyssey tour to Vietnam and Cambodia. With the expert help of Ms Foring Huang who always responded within a few hours of emailing questions, we were able to tailor the Vietnam Heritage tour to include a few days in Siem Rep in Cambodia, starting and finishing on dates to suit our flights to and from home in Auckland. Foring was very helpful in accommodating our private tour tweaks and we really enjoyed the Hanoi Foodie Tour that she suggested for the day before the original "official" tour started. Our guides in Hanoi, Hoi An and Hue, Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Rep were all very good, adding places of interest on request, for example stopping to take photos of rice harvesting en route, and the drivers were wonderful, offering cold bottles of water and fresh hand towels each time we returned to the van after very hot explorations on foot! We could never have seen as much and in such comfort if we had been exploring on our own!
