I have used Odyssey for trips to China and Myanmar. Never had anything but outstanding service with them. The day before the China trip my wife got very sick and we had to slide the trip for a month and Roger was able to rearrange everything. Will certainly use them again. Achim Lind

I just returned home from a two week trip to Myanmar, my second trip with Odyssey tours, and once again I was impressed with their service. Everything was looked after for us, from our airport arrivals and departures, to being flexible enough to change their itinerary to allow us to leave out some suggestions which were less interesting to us, and go to other places to take the photographs which we wanted to take. Our guides in each city were excellent, as were our drivers and nothing was too much trouble.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Odyssey Tours to anyone. They are excellent value for money. This is the second time that Allison has arranged the complete holiday, and I would definitely use her services, within Odyssey again.

Good to be home sweet home and now we can reminisce on the wonderful personal guided holiday we enjoy thanks to Odyssey's first class service customer focused care and the incredible support and assistance from Emily.Every single site (to many to list here) we visited in Bagan, Mandalay, Lake Inle, Kyaiktiyo and Yangon were stunning, insightful, interesting, historically significant, eye opening and a joy to behold. We confidently recommend Odyssey’s totally client focused consultants to suggest and plan your unique personal tour just as they did for us. Top marks to Team Odyssey. The guide/interpreter service.a. Bagan, Ms. Hnin Thuzar Aung. A very good professional young lady with an enormous wealth of knowledge about her region and its people. As well as having a good command of the English language she was friendly, always happy and smiling very attentive and client focused.b. Mandalay, Ms. Ei Mon Swe. A great happy, smiling and helpful personality added to her professional expertise, depth of local knowledge, very good English and communication skills. Like Hnin she was always punctual and managed our tour with precision.c. Inle Lake, Ms. Nang Aye Aye Mon. Her excellent English language skill made it very easy to clearly understand every moment of our tour. With an equally attentive, friendly and smiling demeanor than the other girls her slightly more relaxed style made to feel comfortable, at ease and in no way rushed.d. Yangon, Mr. Kyaw Niang Oo (Josh). A lovely character filled with friendliness, customer care and flexible service. He was totally client focused, full of history and knowledge not only of Yangon but the whole of Myanmar, its past and current situation and was great at telling stories, jokes and is an accomplished guitarist. e. Overall we felt welcome and cared for, learned a lot about Myanmar/Burma and its peoples and cultures (various tribes), were always well looked after, felt safe and laughed a lot with each and every one of the guides. The driver service.a. All five drivers (car and boat) were first class, friendly, courteous and professional in their application of getting us too, from and around safely, efficiently and as close as possible to the venues we started at, visited or ended our day at. These guys were greatly appreciated for their excellent skills and service as well as their awesome patients when waiting for us at each venue.b. Overall the cars proved to be safe comfortable and cool in the humid heat of Myanmar. Hotels:Bagan Thande Hotel A lovely hotel set in beautiful tropical gardens and adjoining the river Ayarwaddy. Friendly efficient staff always there but out of sight. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, the only downside is when it rains heavily all the pathways get flooded for an hour or so and make getting to dinner/breakfast, reception or the excellent spa tricky. All meals were very good, well served and in particular dinner overlooking the river is romantic and relaxing. Remember to bring your insect repellent. The spa is first class, relaxing and with very good professional masseurs, we recommend the traditional Myanmar massage, totally calms the muscles and the mind.Ayarwaddy River View HotelA great setting overlooking the Ayarwaddy river in a relatively quite easy to access location on the edge of the town centre, Friendly welcoming staff make check in a nice experience and room and restaurant service a treat. Rooms are very spacious, quite, clean and well maintained. The roof top bar and restaurant overlooking the river is spectacular for watching and photographing sunset particularly as happy hour (a free cocktail or two) is close to sunset time.Inle ResortLocated on the banks of the magnificent Lake Inle, approximately 5 kilometers into the lake from town centre, is the equal of many western resorts but far more idyllic set in lush tropical jungle (bring your insect repellent) the bungalows are very spacious, beautifully decorated with large bathrooms and peacefully quite. Kids will have a great time exploring the many (stone paved) jungle pathways when heading for meals or boat trips.Depending on weather meals can be inside or out and are served by courteous smiling staff, if inside a cultural show adds charm and knowledge to one’s dinner. The only downside is diner and in particular wines are somewhat overpriced.Golden Rock HotelThis was by far the best hotel in every way, fabulously friendly professional, caring and attentive staff in smart traditional uniforms! Set on the side of the mountain in lush gardens and surrounded by verdant forest with exquisite views of the Golden Rock Temple atop the mountain. The quite rooms were very spacious clean, neat, tidy and well maintained and even a torch provided if one wish to wander the gardens in the evening.Although not for the elderly or unfit the fifteen minute walk down from the temple to the hotel is safe and a great insight into how the locals, passing through a couple of hamlets, live, work and enjoy the stress free mountain.Best Western Green Hill HotelA quite location (rather than the hustle bustle and noise of the centre), good for couples not kids or trendy party goers as need to use taxi (most rides 15-20 minutes @ 3,000 Kyats = $US$2.50) to get into the centre of town or places of interest. Nothing for children to do and in urgent need of a swimming pool. Well-proportioned rooms clean and well maintained, some like ours with a great views, we were kindly upgraded.Very good breakfast spread and fabulous cakes for coffee breaks/snacks. All staff became more and more friendly and attentive as our stay continued thanks to the smart day manager and the friendly and courteous night manager. Best of all was waitress Ei (female) great smiling friendly efficient service, should be the role model for ALL staff. The Cruises. All cruises, on rivers and lakes were well organized, both Ayarwaddy river and full day outings on Lake Inle were on time, safe, comfortable, enjoyable and interesting. The drivers and crew were polite, courteous, and slowed when we wished to take photographs and were always on hand to assist in and out of the boats as well as waiting patiently during various visits on the tour. We suggest travelers are reminded the night before each tour that they may require coats/jackets, a jumper, umbrella, flip flops (easier than on off shoes and socks), sunblock, sun glasses and insect repellent. The meals. We enjoyed immensely all lunch meals arranged by Odyssey and managed by our sensational tour guides. Each location had its unique charm and local dishes and were always served quickly, efficiently and with a smile. We recommend you tell tour guides to remind guests that drinks and tips (all tips were well deserved) are not included, check the level of spiciness guests can handle and keep the size of each of the various dishes to a modest size. All in all we loved every meal particularly the welcome dinner and cultural show on the Golden Royal Barge replica.Thank you Emily and Odyssey.
