We booked a 16 day holiday touring Myanmar. This was the third holiday organised by Eric and we genuinely feel that we are dealing with someone who knows what we expect from our holidays. The hotels were all just as we wanted and the visits and guides were excellent. When a slight problem arose I had no hesitation in contacting Eric, who sorted everything out in his usual efficient way. Our plans were complicated as our daughter joined us for the seconext week, but her pick up and transfer to our hotel went very smoothly, just as last year. I would not hesitate to recommend Odyssey tours, and in particular our travel consultant Eric........in fact we recommended Odyssey to a couple we met while travelling home. We are looking forward to another exciting adventure next year and will definitely ask Eric to help with the planning

Our guide from Odyssey was Thida Saw and she did a marvelous job of showing us all that Yangon has to offer over two days of a private tour. Yes, it is a big, dirty city but held quite s few surprises including this humongous and beautiful reclining Bhudda. She also hooked me up with a good spa.

We've just returned (ok a week ago but the jet lag took awhile to work through) from 8 days in Myanmar and it was simply brilliant! Odyssey Tours did a fantastic job! Joan was on point from the first contact and handle our requests/questions like a champ! We went a little off the normal Myanmar course with a special trip to Green Valley Elephant Camp (look it up...GO DO IT...Amazing experience) and Joan handled that flawlessly!

Here was our trip:

Flew to Kuala Lumpur and spent a few days getting in the holiday mood, then on to Yangon. We arrived...tour guide and car set up by Odyssey were ready and waiting. After a seamless trip/check in at our hotel and a night's sleep...off to sightsee in Yangon!

This is when we knew we got it right choosing Odyssey. This wasn't going to be a tour of just the places you see in postcards. We took walks through a market that was a little rough around the edges. We crossed busy streets and ate like locals. Our guide was close at hand the whole time but made sure, as we wanted, we saw things...all the things Myanmar had to offer. GREAT conversation...good food...wonderful sights....great discussions...car and driver were expert and you better be in that traffic...and then off to our first plane trip within Myanmar.

Yangon...busy, great introduction, wonderful guide...GREAt start to our visit.

The flight....perfect. Tickets were handled. Airport was must nicer than you initial think about. Everything worked seamlessly. We landed in Bagan and off we were to see the sights. Here's where we made our only mistake...we should have taken a morning balloon flight. Spouse doesn't like heights so we dismissed it but after she watched the balloons coming over Bagan Lodge (more on that in a minute) she wanted to do it. We go back, that will be a To Do!

So the guide, car and driver were right on point when we landed. Everything was perfect. Again...walk and talk through a market and then a check in. Bagan Lodge...GREAT CHOICE! LOVED IT! We would have gone back just to stay there. Little connected cabins, very beautiful inside, wonderful grounds, beautiful pool, amazing staff and literally walking distance to enough picture taking sights to keep you happy. GREAT CHOICE by Odyssey!

Next stop...Green Valley Elephants! This was our add and Joan did great with this one. If you don't know what it is, look it up. The camp is a two hour ride (again...flight was flawless and guide/car right on time when we arrived) through the mountains so you have beautiful scenery as you wind through the mountains with plenty of time to talk. Guide was very personable and super helpful answering a million questions. I got the impression this one was a bit out of the normal rotation, but our guide had visited the camp a couple times before and even he admitted...he likes visiting there. Joan pulled this one in to our itinerary and made it seem like it was seamless as well. Probably the best experience of the whole trip!

We stayed in Kalaw and again...another great choice from Odyssey. We stayed in what literally was an old English manor. I could have said I was outside of London and it would have been a perfect fit. The Odyssey choices really were very good in terms of hotels/rooms!

Another flight...and we land in Mandalay. Here's where we absolutely adored our guide. Khin was AMAZING! Request her in Mandalay! Young and very hip, she makes sure you see everything but always talks about everything. Lots of good discussion about changes in the country and the people. We loved that part...getting to know people and how things look now vs even five years ago. Khin adjusted our itinerary around our wants/needs including accommodating us taking about 10,000 pictures of some the most beautiful sights in this part of the world and made it all work perfectly. Great food choices in some out of the way places that were FANTASTIC!

Another great hotel...another seamless airport trip and...8 days was gone in a heartbeat! But what an amazing experience! Joan was there the whole way, quick with the communications, adjustments to schedule, recommendations on accommodations or attractions to see and the whole guide/driver willingness to work around how quickly we wanted to move...or not worked PERFECTLY! We had an amazing 8 days in Myanmar and were only sad we couldn't fit in more days there as there was so much to explore, we literally felt like we only scratched the surface. The communication was great, guides were all great in terms of knowledge and conversation, cars were all late model and very clean, drivers very helpful and very professional. The trip flowed extremely well. The accommodations were each very well chosen and the food was fantastic with plenty of everything you could want and opportunities to try things you don't normally experience at home. LOVED the photo ops and the walks through various markets that were definitely not your local mall at home.

WONDERFUL experience! Thank you Joan and Odyssey. If you are still on the fence, just book it and don't look back. you will be very happy you did!!!

I have just returned from a two week private tour of Myanmar which was organised through Nikki at Odyssey Tours. What a fantastic time we had the country is magic, unspoilt by tourism and a photographers dream destination. Thanks to our guides we were able to tailor the tour to our needs and and saw many places the self guided tourist would have missed.
