My wife and I spent last winter (November through March) in Bangkok and during that time made several trips throughout Southeast Asia. While all of our trips were good as were the travel companies, we always had to put in a lot more time, effort and money then we would have liked.

Then we found Indochina Odyssey Tours.

The trip they provided to Luang Prabang was fabulous. They suggested several excellent options for us, as well as being extremely timely and responsive with all information. It was clear they were real experts who wanted to make sure we had exactly the kind of experience we wanted. Alick, our agent, really did his homework finding out what type of things we liked and didn't like and researched a few special things we wanted to do. For example he recommended the perfect hotel for us to view the Monk's procession for receiving alms in the morning. The guide they arranged was outstanding as was the itinerary.

We do not travel on the cheap and Indochina Odyssey Tours recommended hotels, etc. that met our objectives, yet they were much less expensive than other companies, providing the same type of trip.

Everything from start to finish was easy.

Our only regret is that we didn't use Indochina Odyssey tours for the other trips we made, but we certainly will the next time we travel in Asia.

My 70yr old aunty and i went to Myanmar with a personal tour organised by Alick Peng from Indochina Odyssey Tours and it was excellent.

We had heard Myanmar travel could be tougher than other places in the hot season when we were going, plus ATMs etc were reported to be scarce (which isnt correct). So we thought we'd get help, so we organised an itinerary to our liking and sent it to IOT to quote and organise. We were fairly pedantic at times and swapped hotels and added and subtracted things along the way - however that didnt stop Alick proceeding with 200% professionalism and helpfullness.

The guides, hotels and food that they organised were absolutely great. We had no complaints about anything IOT did.

Two things I will mention
1) if your Australian then add about 20% on to the quoted price to cover tips, currency conversion (from USD) and fees to pay IOT in Hong Kong (eg paypal or telegraphic transfer fees).
2) my bank (Westpac) refused to pay the telegraphic transfer payment to IOT. It had something to do with their processing to stop money laundering / other unacceptable payments (they couldnt tell me exactly). I was worried what this meant and whether IOT might be dodgy, however just payed with PayPal no hassles. And IOT certainly werent dodgy - they were top notch. Ill use them again and wouldnt hessitate to recomend them as knowledgable, helpful, flexible, good value and have a lot of resources to make your trip work out.

My wife and I have just finished a three week trip to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, arranged by IOT, and it has been fantastic. Everything ran smoothly, stress-free, and without a hitch. The hotels have all been of a very good standard, the guides, the drivers and their cars have been excellent, the meals have been of good quality, all excursions were extremely interesting, and all scheduled times went as planned.
I would like to mention Wanda Tang, our IOT tour organiser, for all her thorough preparation and advice for our itinerary. Thank you Wanda for providing us with an excellent Indochina three week experience. Your constant communication in the preparation of our itinerary gave us much confidence in our planned trip, and all our expectations were met. We had a great time.
In particular we would like to thank our guide Ken in Luang Prabang, capably assisted by his driver, who made each destination a memorable occasion. Ken spoke fluently, gave detailed and interesting information, and made every effort to make sure everything went well. We learnt so much about the history, culture and religious beliefs and customs of their countries.

Luang Prabang was our 3rd stop in our Indochina trip and the private tour organized by IOT was amazing. Our guide Mr.Vahn was super, informative, and very professional. Always on time, eager to ensure we enjoyed our visit and extremely friendly. His knowledge of Luang Prabang provided us with a great experience. The tour provided a glimpse into Laos culture and history and was interesting and beautiful. The accommodations at My Dream Resort were delightful, the staff very friendly and helpful and the food top notch. I would definitely take this tour again and highly recommend it.

Prior to our trip , Mr Alick help plan out the itinerary , he was always emailing me back quickly and answering all my questions. He helped me set up a perfect itinerary, which I changed multiple times.
Our lovely trip began in Chiang Mai with Mr Dare and our Driver Ef. We had set up a lengthy itinerary which was all completed and if we wanted to veer of course or guide and driver happily complied. They were always answering our questions as we progressed through the sights, and always had coolscloths and cold water when we went back into the van. The only compliant we had was that we were always taken to lunch buffets were multiple tour companies would go which I was not a fan of. The best part of the trip was the Patara Elephant Farm, one of the most memorable experiences. A must do when in Chiang Mai.
In Bangkok, Mr Mongkol was delightful, he knew how to get around that big city. On our first day he was able to get tickets to the Siam Niramit with a private driver which still ended up being cheaper if I had book through the shows website. The cooking class in Bangkok with May Kaidee's was wonderful, this was an IOT recommendation . We ended up having a private tour in there vintage house a Bangkok which was a real treat. Mr Mongkol was always waiting for us in the morning, willing to go the extra mile and making sure that we were safe and well fed. He is a huge foodie, so every time we had a lunch we ate at wonderful places and he knew all the great dishes to order. None of the places he takes you to are tourist traps they are genuine thai lunch eateries. He also knows all the great places to eat in Chinatown where he occasionally does food tours. He did alot of little things that made the day flow, he knew when the sites were the busiest and how to avoid the crowd and heat. He made sure to take an extra umbrella so that we could cover our-self from the heat and would hold the umbrella when we were taking pictures or going into temples. He also took pictures without having to ask. At the kings summer palace, he got me some bread to feed the fishes and turtle at the lake which I enjoyed. Even when he dropped us off at the hotel he was always willing to wait and help us get transportation if we were going shopping or out to dinner. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his job that left us with a wonderful impression of Bangkok.
Lastly we headed to Siem Reap Cambodia with Mr Savy our guide that like Mr Mongkol always went the extra step to make sure we saw all the sites and enjoyed ourselves. Mr Savy was vey knowledgeable about the history of the temples and of Cambodia as a county. He gave us a wealth of information about the wars and struggles that Cambodians have face over the last century. When visiting the temples, he explained the carving in the walls, the shapes and meanings of the temples and the history behind them. He loved taking pictures and know all the best locations to take them. He would offer suggestion for poses which ended up being the best pictures we came come with. One day, it started raining as we pull up to one of the temples and the driver ran out to get us some plastic rain covers and Mr Savy pulled out the umbrellas and we started walking through the rain seeing these ancient temple. It was a wonderful experience, neither of them hesitated to do the tour in the pouring rain. He also knew all the tricks around the temples to avoid the crowds and heat which made a big difference in our experience. The second day I got sick and wasn't sure if I would be able to go on the second part of our inineray. After a couple of hours of rest , I was able to go out and see one of the local , Jungle temples. Mr Savy waited at the Hotel in case we need anything, took us to the pharmacy to get some medications and made sure that I was feeling better and if necessary was willing to take me to the hospital. He knew that I was disappointed that I was unable to see Banteay Srei because I was sick so the next day he changed around the itinerary so that it would be included.
Looking back at our trip we saw and did so many thing because we had wonderful guides that made our trip even more wonderful. Thanks IOT.
