My sister and I travel a lot on our own and love the flexibility of going at our own pace... so rarely, we book tours. We were planning to go to South East Asia for 2 weeks and had limited time to cover all the territory we wanted to. So, the best compromise was a private tour for the 2 of us. I did research here in Trip Advisor and a few other places and ended up working in IOT (Wanda is super agent... all they advertise about responding within 24 hours and catering to you and following up is absolutely and positively true!).

We booked a 14 day private tour of Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. We absolutely loved the trip and thought IOT and its personnel were fantastic!. My favorite places were Thailand and Laos. I expected Thailand, especially northern Thailand, (Ayutthaya, Sukhothai (a must see not visited as often as Ayutthaya) and Chiang Mai to be what they were. Great places.

Laos was absolutely the jewel of the trip. Luang Prabang is just awesome!. We ended up staying at the 3-Nagas hotel (this was something we worked with IOT since this was a place we really wanted to stay at and had our heart set on it). If you have a chance, stay there. The 3-nagas is beautiful and it is right in the center of Luang Prabang so you can explore on your own all the wonderful sites and check out some of the culinary school restaurants. The food in Laos is amazing. My sister and I seem to liked better than Thai food and I love Thai food.

Our tour guide Phan was very knowledgeable, courteous, willing to go the extra mile, etc. The driver was good as well. The first day, we arrived late afternoon so they picked us off at the airport and dropped us up at the hotel making sure that we were set. Since we had the rest of the day to ourselves, Phan gave us pointers as to what to do that evening, etc (The night market, other parts of town, etc). Next morning, we got up at 5:45 am, rolled out of our bed and stepped outside to see the alms ceremony (beautiful)... after that we were picked up to start out day tour that covered Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong, a cruise upstream on the Mekong River were we also explored the Pak Ou Caves and a few villages. Later we walked around town and ended up having dinner at one of the restaurants in the many culinary schools. Phan was fantastic!!!... thank you for an unforgettable experience.

IOT guides and drivers are fantastic. On time, knowledgeable, courteous and very much focus in making one experience great. So are its agents. Wanda not only worked with me to set up this trip,.. was flexible to let me make multiple adjustments to accommodate the things and places I wanted to stay at. She contacted us twice during the trip to make sure that we were satisfied. Nice job IOT. I would certainly work with you guys again and tell my friend too!

My sister and I worked with IOT to plan a private tour to Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. We generally travel on our own but going to Asia (and we have been there before), we prefer to use a private tour that give us the flexibility to see all the places that we want to see at our pace but we don't have to deal with the language limitation.I did a little bit of research and checked multiple companies until I settled with them. Thanks for reviews here on Trip Advisor. They were fantastic. I worked with Wanda and she accommodated all my changes including itinerary changes, hotel changes, etc. She was super pro-active, provided quick responses, etc.

In Thailand, we went to Bangkok, Ayutthaya, Sukhothai and Chiang Mai. We had our tour guide (Woody) and our driver pick us up at 11:00 pm and take us around for a week, Dont have enough words to tell you how awesome these two guys were were. It was fairly warm and after running around, every time we got to the car, they had cold water and disposal cold towels for us. They were courteous, attentive, you name it. The hotels were very good. Loved Thanaburi Resort in Ayutthaya and the Kodchasri thani in Sukhothai, IOT (Wanda) checked on us several times during the trip to make sure we were satisfy.

In Laos (luang Prabang, while I made the hotel arrangements (Borei Angkor Hotel.. a must in my humble opinion), they did have a guide and a driver available that were fantastic as well (The guide was Phan). We had free time in all places to do our thing but also the guides took us to places we had on the itinerary and a little more. Luang Prabang was certainly the jewel of the trip!

In Cambodia, the guide and the driver were not as good as in the other 2 places but they were still good. We had had such an amazing experience in the two other places that it was hard to top.My experience with IOT was so good that I intent to use them again in futures trip to Asia.Thanks to everyone in this forum for reviewing them.... which is what part of what helped me make the decision. So... here is this review to return the favor!. Thanks IOT for having such great guides especially Woody and Phan!

We trusted Indochina to help us plan out our Thailand honeymoon, who were recommended to us by a dear friend. Both me and my husband cannot praise Indochina Odyssey tours enough for the fantastic arrangements that they made for our holiday. From the very first contact with Alick Peng, he could not have been more helpful and he always answered any questions we had in no time.
The holiday was tailor to every single request we had asked. The tour guides were experienced, super friendly, always on time; our drivers always very careful; and the vehicles used to transport us were always comfy and with a/c and the accommodations chosen for us were exceptional. Alick aslo made contact with us through the guides, to ensure that we were satisfied with everything. We were certainly treated like Royalty :)
We certainly cannot praise Indochina Odyssey tours enough for thier service and dedication. We would surely highly recommend them as a serious and professional agency.

Six of us (three couples) just returned from a 30 day tour of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar, arranged by IOT. Our consultant Eric was absolutely wonderful. We elected our hotel category, and started with a few of IOT's canned/suggested tours together. He was very responsive to our questions, itinerary modifications, etc. The tour involved 12 locations and 9 flight segments so there was a lot of planning and coordination. Everything was arranged perfectly, with names and contact info of local guides, who met us at arriving airports and took great care of us. the guides and drivers were professional, friendly and informed. There were couple issues during the trip (situation in Bangkok, couple flight changes, etc) and IOT was very quick in responding, including phone calls to us through the local guides. The itinerary was great, and every place we went was unique. We traveled frequently, on own, with large, medium and small/private groups, and this trip definitely rated among the best. It was sort of trip of the lifetime, until the next trip, that is. Now some suggestions: 1, after clients elected hotel category, would be nice to be offered several options so clients could research location/amenities, etc and decide;
2, for such a long trip, it would be nice to offer non local food as an option for lunch (a shorter, 10/15 days tour would have been okay, but 30 days is tough);
3, it would be helpful to list how long the day may be. There were couple 10 hour days and one 14 hour day that was just too tiring.
4, for would be travelers, do more research and tell your consultant the "must have, must do" list. They should be able to accommodate
All in all, a great trip; a fantastic company. We were a little apprehensive at the beginning because this is not a U.S. based company, but we got over that real quick. We'd use it again, also their other Divisions, China Odyssey Tours and India Odyssey Tours next time we consider that part of the world.
