Within the park, walk along the Botanical Garden's nature trails to spot an abundance of flora and fauna. If the weather is fine, you may even capture fantastic views of Mount Kinabalu, standing majestically at 4,095 meters as Malaysia's highest mountain.
After lunch at a local restaurant, depart on another hour's transfer to Poring Hot Spring, which invites you to enjoy a soothing Japanese-styled sulphur bath and challenge the 43-metre-high Canopy Walkway. Finally, hit the road again for your return drive to Kota Kinabalu.

Leave Kota Kinabalu behind in the early morning as you take a brief flight to Sandakan. Upon arrival, drive straight to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, with the chance to observe semi-wild Orang Utan roaming freely at the feeding platform (around 10 a.m.). Following this, walk into the neighboring Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to meet the world's smallest bears, another native species to Borneo.
Next, head over to the jetty for a one-hour boat ride up to the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary. You will check in to Abai Jungle Lodge and get rested up before heading out on a late afternoon river cruise for wildlife spotting. As night falls, continue the boat safari to see riverbanks illuminated by twinkling fireflies.
Get back to your lodge for dinner. After that, follow your guide to experience the "Jungle at night" along the lodge's boardwalk trail to search for birds, snakes, insects and other wildlife.
